Spencer Perilloux
Dedicated to Percussion Artistry
Graduated from the University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre, and Dance in the class of 2024 with a Master of Music in Percussion Performance.
Graduated from Central Michigan University’s School of Music in the class of 2022 with a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance.
Spencer has lived in Michigan his whole life, with family ties to the Metro Detroit area, as well as the rural Upper Peninsula region. He has dedicated his life to almost every instrument in the Percussive Arts, consisting mainly of modern keyboard percussion technique, orchestral percussion, orchestral timpani, drum set, and jazz improvisation. He prides himself on his versatility, attention to detail, and adaptability to any musical circumstance.
Not only is Spencer the sole musical feature of Detroit Marimba, but he also makes personal arrangements of everything that you hear. The arrangements effectively make him a one-man band, as the arrangements are meticulously created to be instantly recognizable versions of society’s most beloved tunes.
In addition to Detroit Marimba, he teaches percussion lessons to students all across the Southeast Michigan area. He has been an integral part of the percussion mentor staff at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Civic Youth Ensembles program since 2022, teaching and performing students in the historic Orchestra Hall in downtown Detroit. He is also an employee of Expressions Music Academy’s Canton locations, where he works with students of all ages to discover their musical potential.
